It is a direct drive trainer so no frequent tire changes. It's thru axle compatible out of the box and will provide the best experience for training indoors. It is worth noting that they do not come with a cassette but there are plenty of inexpensive replacement options out there. The Saris H3 Plus is currently priced at $399.99.

If price point is a concern I would also consider the Saris trainer options below. The first two will let you still experience smart training apps. However, these trainers will require a tire change for a MTB (you need smooth tires) and an adapter for thru-axle bikes. Adapters add 50-60 dollars.

2. The M2 Smart Equipped Indoor Bike Trainer will control the resistance and has integrated cadence, speed and power data (Zwift certified. ROUVY certified.) The M2 Smart Equipped Trainer currently retails for $229.99.

3. The Fluid 2 Smart Equipped will come with a speed/cadence sensor for using with apps like Zwift and currently retails for $199.99.

4. The Fluid2 trainer is a great value at $149.99, progressive resistance means it provides a real road-like feel and can provide a great workout. It does not have any connectivity and requires thru-axle adapters and a smooth tire.
